Circus Summer
Egg tempera on gesso panel, 18 x 24
$3,500

When I was a little girl, the circus came to the farmer's field across the street from my house every other year during the first week of June. We watched the older boys in the neighborhood help set up tents. There were amazing acts on the high wire and trapeze, clowns, and exotic animals. It was an exciting time. Then, they were gone. School let out and our summer vacation began. For weeks afterward, my sisters and I would spend our time playing circus in our back yard.I used a photo of the circus tent from my mother's album. My favorite model posed for the figure in the foreground and the rest are imaginary representations of siblings like mine.
