Storm
Egg tempera on gesso panel, 18 x 24"
$4,000 (prints for $125 and $250)

For 9 years I worked for the American Littoral Society, a coastal conservation non-profit headquartered in historic Ft. Hancock on Sandy Hook near Highlands, New Jersey. A significant perk of this job was sitting on the porch of our historic building overlooking the bay. We spent many a lunch hour watching osprey teach their young to fish. I also loved to watch the frequent summer thunderstorms rumble across the bay. My tenure there also earned me lifetime "porch rights" and I was able to bring my models out to pose on the porch. Finally, I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Don Riepe, a gifted naturalist and wildlife photographer, who permitted me to use his photo of an osprey with a fish as a reference for this painting.
