Egg tempera on gesso panel, 18 x 24"

Most of my recent artwork has focused on human interactions with nature. Some of these depict purposeful encounters such as fishing or picking up horseshoe crabs at the beach. Others are more passive interactions. Picnic is one of those -- a young couple on a picnic in the woods enjoying but not necessarily making use of the flora and fauna that surrounds them. I love depicting the life cycles in nature - the decaying carpet of leaves on the forest floor along side the greenery of the fragrant sumac undergrowth. Here is a changed from earlier, more sun-drenched scenes. Many thanks to my models, Mia and John, who posed.
