Crabbing
Egg tempera on gesso panel, 18 x 24"
$4,000 (prints for $125 and $250)

This painting was inspired by memories of the times my father took my sisters and I crabbing on the Navesink River near our home in Red Bank, NJ. Blueclaw crabs were most plentiful in August so I enjoyed recreating the hazy blues and greens of summer. A single model posed for all three figures--I had a lot of fun creating different characters from the original photos and drawings. Guess which one is the real Grace? The red-winged blackbirds, who frequent the whispering reeds, serve as punctuation for this bucolic narrative.
