The biggest challenge in this drawing was creating the glow of the lanterns and the light it cast on the dancing figures and the environment. I compose my drawing from a variety of sources and use light as the unifying element. This is one of the reasons I spend so much time on preliminary drawings. I don't have a single photo or scene from which to create my works.
