Spring: Girls with Snowdrops and Robins
Egg tempera on gesso panel, 18 x 18"
Nothing inspires hope more than the sight of spring flowers pokeing their way up through the brown detritus of winter. When my sister shared a photo she took of wild crocuses and snowdrops blooming through dried oak leaves in Poricy Park, a favorite haunt of our childhood, I immediately asked permission to use it in my depiction of this painting of spring. The addition of robins to the backdrop completed the picture evoking my memories of spring in coastal Monmouth County, New Jersey.
