Circus Summer
Silverpoint, 18 x 24
$1,750

When I was a little girl, the circus came every other year and set up in the farmer's field across the street from our house. It was an exciting time for all the neighborhood kids--watching them set up the tents, seeing elephants in the field where we played. This would occur during the first week of June. Once school was out a few weeks later, my sisters and I would play circus in our back yard for weeks. To create this composition, I used a live model for the figure in the foreground. The children are largely imagined and the circus tent came directly from my mother's photo album.
